Compass2819 exists to help churches do short-term missions well.

John Jackson, the co-founder and executive director of Compass, brings a wealth of hard-earned experience and wisdom to the table. He has been discipling those who disciple the world for over 40 years and has logged more air and land miles than anyone can remember in his passion to fulfill the Great Commission and to train others to do so, also. (2 Timothy 2:2)

He and his wife and ministry partner, Penny, live and teach a contagiously joyful brand of discipleship that is solidly rooted in the Word.

John has served as a missionary, church planter, soccer coach, college professor, and pastor to missionaries. He has been on all sides of short-term missions: participant, host, trip leader, and trainer. He and Penny have inspired countless others to choose vocational ministry.

Since Compass2819 was founded in 2012, the training tools and methods that proved so successful on trips all over the globe were formalized into a set of manuals and in signature training sessions called "scrums."

It is this highly curated, extensively field-tested body of training that is now being made available in bite-sized lessons so that even more people can become mature, fruit-bearing disciples of Jesus.
